At 8 am on Saturday, August 28, 2021, CORE of McLean, a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization, is holding our 8th annual 6.6k (4.1-mile) run/walk on Route 66 from Funks Grove to McLean to benefit the community of McLean, IL. We are excited to once again offer this as a LIVE event! This point-to-point 6.6k/4.1-mile run/walk starts in Funks Grove (shuttle service is provided from McLean to Funks Grove), with participants running or walking on the Mother Road herself to our new park under the old water tower in McLean, which was funded by previous proceeds from this event. This race has become a much-anticipated must-do for many—join us in having a great time raising money for our community! Awards will be given for the best times (male/female) in several age groups, and favorites such as the pre-race shot of pure maple sirup and commemorative shot glasses, awesome t-shirts, and post-race food from the Dixie will be back. Also returning will be a classic car show and Ruby's Rescue & Retreat with adoptable dogs and puppies, as well as a silent auction to benefit their rescue in McLean. See the race webpage for more details and to register. https://www.mclean-il.com/get-your-6-6-on-route-66.

The McLean Police Department has observed many residents leaving their garbage cans out on the curb, even days after the garbage has already been picked up. Please be aware that it is against Village ordinance to keep garbage cans out on the curb more than 12 hours after being emptied. Please return garbage cans to your house once they have been emptied. If this is not done in timely manner, a fine could be assessed. For full text of the related ordinance, visit the Garbage Receptacle Requirements page.
